Transparency & Trust

Our Policies

Everything we do is rooted in honesty — from the ingredients we use to the way we ship your order.

Ethics Policy
+

Pūraka upholds the highest standards of professional ethics — informed by Melissa Foreman's 20 years of practice as a homeopath and naturopath. Every product is rooted in a deep respect for individual wellbeing, balance, and safety.

Commitment to ethical practice

Melissa is a fully insured member of the Society of Homeopaths, working to their strict code of ethics and best practice levels. That same standard of care runs through every Pūraka product.

Natural ingredients & quality standards

  • Natural formulation — carefully vetted, naturally derived ingredients, drawing on years of naturopathic experience.
  • Transparency — ingredient sourcing prioritises natural origins, safety and efficacy. "Natural" means plant, mineral or naturally occurring — never a synthetic substitute.
  • Safety first — tissue salts and natural extracts are selected for their safety profile, free from known harmful chemicals or unnecessary additives.

No animal testing & cruelty-free

Pūraka does not test products or ingredients on animals and expects the same from all suppliers and partners. Every product is 100% cruelty-free and vegan.

Social responsibility

Customers are encouraged to learn about their skin and how to care for it — empowering informed choices through transparency and guidance.

Ingredient Transparency
+

Knowing what's in your skincare matters as much as how it's made. Transparency is at the heart of every product we make.

Full ingredient disclosure

  • Every product lists all ingredients on packaging and on the product page.
  • Ingredients are shown in plain language alongside their official INCI names where useful.

Clear ethical & dietary labels

  • Vegan-friendly products are clearly labelled as such.
  • Any non-vegan ingredient, such as beeswax or honey, is clearly noted.

Excluded ingredients

Pūraka never uses the following — not in a single product:

  • — Parabens
  • — Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)
  • — Synthetic fragrances
  • — Mineral oil
  • — Petrochemicals
  • — Synthetic fillers
  • — Animal-derived ingredients
  • — Anything banned by UK or EU cosmetic regulations

Questions

Email hello@purakaskincare.com with any question about an ingredient or how it's sourced.

Product Claims & Advertising
+

All claims we make about Pūraka products are honest, transparent, and evidence-based, in line with UK regulations.

Compliance with UK regulations

Our claims comply with the UK Cosmetics Regulation and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. We follow the Common Criteria for Cosmetic Claims: legal, truthful, evidenced, fair, and clear.

Independent product testing

Pūraka products are independently tested by Oxford Labs. Formulations undergo analysis for quality, stability and safety.

Types of claims we make

  • Efficacy claims, supported by formulation data and user feedback.
  • Ingredient claims, describing sourcing and origin.
  • Sensory claims, such as texture or scent.
  • Ethical claims, such as cruelty-free or vegan, with documentation.

We do not make medicinal claims, which fall under different regulations.

Advertising standards

All advertising and social content complies with ASA guidelines — clear, truthful, evidenced, and free from exaggeration.

Sustainability & Environment
+

Healthy skin and a healthy planet go hand in hand. This shapes how we source, make, and deliver every product.

Sustainable ingredient sourcing

We choose suppliers who champion sustainable farming and ethical extraction, and avoid ingredients linked to deforestation or ecosystem harm.

Thoughtful packaging

  • Recyclable amber glass bottles and jars, and cardboard shipping materials.
  • Biodegradable void fill, with clear recycling instructions provided with every order.

Responsible production

  • All products are handmade in small batches, ensuring full oversight of quality and environmental impact.
  • Plastic-free shipping throughout.
  • Producing only what's needed keeps surplus and waste to a minimum.
Influencer & Endorsement
+

Pūraka works with creators who genuinely share our values. Every partnership is built on honesty and full disclosure.

Full disclosure

Any gifted or paid content must be clearly labelled in line with ASA and CAP Code guidelines — including #ad or #gifted, visible from the start of the caption.

Authentic representation

  • Creators share their genuine experience — we do not script testimonials.
  • A neutral or negative honest review carries no obligation to post.
  • No exaggerated claims or before/after imagery that doesn't reflect real results.

Our commitment to creators

We communicate clearly and never pressure a creator to post content they don't believe in. Questions: hello@purakaskincare.com.

Privacy Policy
+

Pūraka Skincare is committed to protecting your personal information. This explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights under UK GDPR.

Data we collect

  • Order data — name, address, email, order history.
  • Account data — login details and preferences, if you create an account.
  • Marketing data — email and consent preferences if you opt in via Klaviyo.
  • Analytics data — browsing behaviour, see Cookie Policy.

How we use it

To fulfil orders, send confirmations and updates, respond to enquiries, and — with consent — send marketing emails.

Data sharing

We never sell your data. It's shared only with trusted providers needed to run the business — Shopify, Klaviyo, and Royal Mail — all GDPR-compliant.

Shipping Policy
+

Every order is prepared by hand and dispatched with care. As each product is made in small batches, please allow a little time.

Processing time

Orders are processed and dispatched within 1–3 working days of payment being confirmed. You'll receive an email once your order is on its way.

UK delivery

We ship across the UK via Royal Mail on a tracked service.

  • Royal Mail Tracked 48 — Standard — delivery aim 2–3 working days
  • Royal Mail Tracked 24 — Express — delivery aim next working day

Delivery costs are calculated at checkout based on order weight and chosen service.

International delivery

We currently ship to selected international destinations via Royal Mail. Delivery times and costs vary by location and are shown at checkout. Import duties or customs charges are the customer's responsibility.

Packaging

Orders are shipped in plastic-free, recyclable packaging with biodegradable void fill, using amber glass wherever possible to protect the formula.

Order issues

If your order is delayed, damaged, or hasn't arrived, contact hello@purakaskincare.com and we'll resolve it promptly.

Returns & Refunds
+

We stand behind every product we make. If something isn't right, we want to know — and we'll do everything we can to make it right.

Returns

We accept returns on unopened, unused products within 60 days of delivery. Because products are handmade in small batches with natural active ingredients, we're unable to accept opened returns for hygiene reasons, unless faulty.

Faulty or damaged products

Contact us within 7 days of receipt at hello@purakaskincare.com with your order number and a photo. We'll arrange a replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Skin reactions

We recommend a patch test before first use. If you experience an unexpected reaction, discontinue use and contact us — we'll review and, at our discretion, offer a refund or replacement.

How to return

  1. Email hello@purakaskincare.com with your order number and reason for return.
  2. We'll confirm your return and provide the return address.
  3. Pack the item securely and send it tracked — keep proof of postage.
  4. Once received and inspected, your refund is processed within 5 working days.

Return shipping costs

Unless the item is faulty or sent in error, return shipping is the customer's responsibility.

Your statutory rights

This policy doesn't affect your statutory rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
